'Florida Special' is a pineapple cultivar bred by Libby Fruit Company specifically for Florida production. Notable for its thornless leaves, compact size, and exceptional cold hardiness for a pineapple variety.

Medium to large fruit with golden-yellow flesh and a balanced sweet-tangy tropical flavor. Significantly sweeter and more flavorful than store-bought pineapples when ripened on the plant. Fruit ripens in late spring to early summer, 18-24 months after planting.

Originally developed for large-scale commercial production in Immokalee, Florida. Now widely available through specialty nurseries and popular among home gardeners. Can tolerate temperatures down to the mid-30s°F without fruit damage, making it more cold-hardy than most pineapple varieties.
