Jack Bean - Canavalia ensiformis (Perennial)

Great tropical giant legume that makes bean pods 12" in length. The plants form a mounding shrub or vine if left to grow up something reaching 15ft+. It is edible in its young green tender phase and also can be cooked to get rid of harmful anti nutrients when mature and dry. Suitable as a livestock feed.. Tropical perennial needs a long growing season. It fixes nitrogen into the soil and is also said to repel harmful nematodes.
