Maria’s Joy Pawpaw produces medium to large sized fruit that are kidney-shaped with yellow flesh. Has a mango-pineapple flavor and strong notes of bubblegum. It produces good crops annually with fruit averaging between 8 to 14 ounces. A cross of Davis x Prolific pawpaw by Jerry Lehman, it was named after Maria N. Plekhanova who was a Russian honeysuckle breeder at the N.I. Vavilov All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources.
