'Puciu Mol' is an old cultivar from Italy. Fruits are fragrant and delicious after bletting or when made into jams and preserves. This amazing Medlar likes full to part sun and does well in well-draining soil, it is self-fertile and often begins bearing the 2nd year after planting. The Puciu Mol and its Medlar varieties is pest and disease resistant and can bear an abundant 20 lbs. or more crop. This Medlar blooms in May and produces fruit in mid to late October after the first heavy frost. Like any other medlar, you "blett" the fruit first to get a lovely sweet, soft, light brown textured fruit that taste similar to a spicy fragrant apple sauce. its hardy zones are 4-9 and the dwarf tree is about 6-10ft tall when maturity is reached
