Obichukwu has been with Planting Justice since August 2020, after being introduced to the organization by Max, who was working at Castlemont High School at the time. Currently, Obichukwu does not have enough space to grow plants at his home. However, before migrating from Nigeria, he and his family owned and worked on a large farm, where he learned plant care and about different types of plants. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, watching TV on social media, and spending time with his friends and family. For Obichukwu, Planting Justice is like a second home, a place where he can practice personal healing and feel safe.
I have seen myself in the best, best headspace in my life. I’m not drinking no more. I’m eating healthier. It took me to come here, to be here, to really learn to love myself again.
