Sam Lustig has been working with Planting Justice since July of 2022. He was brought on to manage Planting Justice’s kitchen and nursery retail space at our soon to be open Good Table project in El Sobrante. Sam has been intimately familiar with Planting Justice since its inception, having been dear friends with co-founder Gavin Raders since he was a teenager.
Sam had been working in the cross section that is social justice and agriculture for 15 years prior to joining PJ. His life work has included promoting the importance of unionization in agriculture, bringing awareness to the inequities of the American food system, finding ways how to bring food sovereignty to those who produce our food, as well as using seasonal farm fresh fruit and produce to transform into the highest quality baked goods and value-added products. In his off-time Sam enjoys making his daughter laugh, painting, reading and being outdoors.

I have seen myself in the best, best headspace in my life. I’m not drinking no more. I’m eating healthier. It took me to come here, to be here, to really learn to love myself again.
