Sylviano started working with Planting Justice in September of last year, introduced to the organization through his family, as his dad and uncle were familiar with its mission and impact. Living nearby, he finds the nursery a peaceful place where he can focus on his tasks and enjoy the outdoors, appreciating the productivity that comes with working quietly in a natural environment. For enjoyment, Sylviano likes spending time with his family and occasionally unwinds with video games. Planting Justice’s work holds special importance to him as he sees firsthand how it offers those coming out of jail a chance to rebuild their lives, equipping them with skills and support to shape a positive future. Being part of this community-focused mission, close to home, makes the experience even more fulfilling.
I have seen myself in the best, best headspace in my life. I’m not drinking no more. I’m eating healthier. It took me to come here, to be here, to really learn to love myself again.
