Gray Pine (Pinus sabiniana)

These California natives produce huge showy cones that contain many large, good-flavored pine nuts that have been consumed by all sorts of CA residents - from squirrels to people - for thousands of years. Pinus sabiniana or Gray Pine trees are incredibly drought tolerant, naturally growing throughout the arid climates in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. They are a unique looking pine tree with long gray-green needles. A beautiful and useful tree.
