European Pears (Pyrus communis)

Strong long-lived beautiful trees are reliable producers and easy to grow. Home grown Pears have a melting sweet rich flavor and are great fresh, canned or dried. Trees have showy blooms in spring and turn a Gorgeous fall color late in the season. Pears are better adapted to heavier wet soils than most fruit trees, but can"t tolerate waterlogged soils. Fruit needs to be picked before fully soft and ripened off the tree in a cool spot. Harvest fruit when stem easily separates from branch. Grafted on standard seedling rootstock. Need 2 for cross-pollination. Zones 4-9.
